Obituary of Genevieve E. Becker

BECKER, Genevieve E. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, January 2, 2013 at Saginaw Geriatrics. She was 94 years old. Genevieve E. Becker was born on May 17, 1918 in Indiantown to the late Charles and Catherine (Rostatter) Becker. Genevieve graduated from St. Mary High School and School of Nursing. She also attended a California University where she received her Masters in Nursing Education. Genevieve proudly served her county in the U.S. Army from 1945-1946. She was a first Lieutenant. Genevieve was stationed in Paris where she assisted in the rehabilitation of soldiers so they could return to the states. Upon her return she resided in California where she taught nursing at the college level. Genevieve was involved in many charitable organizations through her church. She will be remembered as a warm loving woman and who was always taking care of others. Surviving are one sister, Louise LaVere; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. She is also survived by long time friends in California, Mary Bauer and Mary Pierce. Genevieve was preceded in death by five brothers: Julius, Harold, George, Conrad and Henry Becker; and one sister, Catherine Becker. FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, January 5, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Rd. Rev. Fr. David A. Parsch will officiate. Rite of Committal and Military Honors conducted under the auspices of VFW Post 1859 will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass.
