BOYD, Dorothy M. of Saginaw, Michigan. Beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away on Tuesday, January 18, 2011, at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre. Age 89. She was born on December 26, 1921, in Saginaw, to the late Gottlieb and Dorothy (Schlicher) Mattheis. She married her high school sweetheart, James C. Boyd on September 14, 1943, in Ocala, Florida. He survives her as well as one daughter, Susan Jean (Louis) White of Frankenmuth; four grandchildren: Wendy (Kevin) Schlett, Cindy (David) White, Brighan (Ryan) Marsh, Benjamin (fiancée, Jessica) Gesch; six great grandchildren: Jacob and Morgan White, Margaret, Evalynn, Hannah and Grace Schlett; one brother, Edward Mattheis and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two daughters: Barbara Gesch and Carol Lynn Boyd; a brother, Henry Mattheis. Dorothy was active in the Women's National Farm and Garden Association as a life member. After her children were grown she worked as a legal secretary and later at Michigan National Bank Valley as an executive secretary and AVP for the president of the bank. She was a member of Peace Lutheran Church for 60 years and a member of the ladies guild. She also enjoyed china painting and flower arranging. FUNERAL: Dorothy's Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Street. Rev. Paul R. Hinz will officiate. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, January 21, 2011, from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Peace Lutheran Church or a Charity of the donor's choice.
