Obituary of William John Cox

COX, William John of Saginaw Township, Michigan passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011 at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital. He was 84 years old. William J. Cox was born January 15, 1927 in Bay City to the late William J. and Lucille (Yuehl) Cox. He was married to Dorothy L. Hillen in Saginaw. She preceded him in death on August 31, 1986. William graduated from SS. Peter & Paul High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After returning home, he completed his Masonry Apprenticeship and started his own business, Cox Masonry. In his free time, William enjoyed playing cards and golfing. Surviving is a daughter, Mariann (Joe) Makarewicz of Shelby Township; two granddaughters: Marcie (Steve) Boyce and Stacy (Jeff) Weegmann; a great grandson, Chancey Boyce; a sister, Denise Vermurlen; and a special friend, Mary Koza. He was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. FUNERAL - Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2011 at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Fr. Thomas Schmied OFM Cap will officiate with burial in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of VFW Post 1859. VISITATION - Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home on Thursday, February 3, 2011 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of his service.
