Obituary of Dorothy Abbott

ABBOTT, Dorothy (Cranmore) of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully with her family at her side on Friday, February 18, 2011 at Hoyt Nursing & Rehab Centre. She was 87 years old. Dorothy M. Cranmore was born on May 1, 1923 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Joseph S. and Mae Agnes (Heffernon) Cranmore. She was married to Frank P. Abbott, Jr. on February 14, 1946 in Saginaw. He preceded her in death on April 1, 2008. Dorothy graduated from SS. Peter and Paul High School. She worked in retail sales for many years at The Country School and Carter Management. Dorothy took great pride in her home and loved antiques. She was always aware of current fashions and was particular about her appearance and beautiful hair. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Abbott and her husband Keith L. Leak of Traverse City, Michigan; and a son, Brian J. Abbott of Saginaw Township. She also leaves many wonderful nieces and nephews, loyal neighbors and a fun and caring staff at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Centre. Dorothy was preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers: Auldeen, Fredric, Marie, George and Joseph. FUNERAL: Dorothy's Funeral Service will take place at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw Children's Zoo at Celebration Square for their Carousel Fund.
