MITCHELL, William K. (Bill) of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away Wednesday, March 16, 2011, at his home with his family at his side. He was 93 years old. William K. Mitchell was born on October 25, 1917 in Chattanooga, TN, to the late Lon and May (Harrop) Mitchell. He was married to Lois J. Oldham on January 25, 1945 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She preceded him in death on December 5, 1979. He later married Anna Haenlein on May 23, 1983; she survives him. Bill was an expert writer, newspaper man, GM Parade of Progress presenter, and public relations professional. He was a WWII hero, a dedicated father and loving grandfather. His friendly personality gained him many friends in business and the community. He was a longtime member of First Presbyterian Church. Surviving are his loving wife, Anna; a son, William O. (Angie) Mitchell of Saginaw; two grandsons: Lon (Lisa) Mitchell of Richmond, VA and Jeffrey Mitchell of Portsmith, VA; two brothers, James (Elizabeth) Mitchell and Robert Mitchell all of Indianapolis, IN. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews and extended family; three step-children and three step-grandchildren. Bill was preceded in death by a sister and brother-in-law, Dolly (Elbert) Eltzroth and a sister-in-law, Kathy Mitchell FUNERAL: A Memorial Service honoring Bill will take place at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011 at First Presbyterian Church, 121 S. Harrison St. Dr. Robert L. Emrich will officiate. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church from 10:30 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Red Cross.
