BRENNER, Marian J. of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Friday, March 18, 2011 at Caretel Inns surrounded by her loving family. She was 94 years old. Marian Jane Dailey was born on June 24, 1916 in Detroit, Michigan to the late Winthrop and Kathleen (Thompson) Dailey. She married Fred W. Brenner on May 3, 1941 in Saginaw at Bishop Murphy's Residence on Holland Ave; he passed away on July 26, 2010, they had shared 69 years of marriage together. Marian was a proud graduate of the University of Michigan. She was a religious woman, loving her church and living a prayerful life. Marian was a founding member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. From 1965 -1985 she was president of First Nighter Series, an organization responsible for fundraising at St. Stephen Catholic Church. She was the former president of St. Mary's Hospital Auxiliary and very influential in raising funds. She was also instrumental in raising funds for their burn unit by booking actor and comedian Bob Hope. Marian was also on the Board of Directors for the Saginaw Choral Society and annually coordinated their Christmas concerts. Because of her long-time commitment to the arts, in 1991 she received the Saginaw All-Area Arts Award, Saginaw County's highest arts award. Marian was a member of the Junior League of Saginaw and also a recipient of their prestigious Golden Rose award. She was also a long-time bridge player at the Saginaw Country Club and a member of the Germania Country Club. Marian was quoted as saying, "I'm a volunteer; I'm volunteering my life away which is great." The family would like to extend a special thank you to Shattuck Manor, Caretel Inn of the Tri-Cities, Visiting Angels especially, Theresa and Angela, Heartland Hospice and the many doctors, caregivers and friends that have helped throughout the years. Surviving are her four sons and three daughters: Fred Jr. (Helen Jo) Brenner, Michael (Sophia) Brenner, John Timothy (Cissy) Brenner, Kathleen (Bill) Graham, Beth (Ron) LaRose, Joanie (Bill) Rosen, and Tom Brenner; 21 grandchildren; and 22 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sisters: Betty Morgan and Martha Crusey; a brother, Jim Dailey. FUNERAL: Marian's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. James G. Heller will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Stephen Catholic Church or St Mary's of Michigan Hospital.
