Obituary of Elda M. Niederstadt

NIEDERSTADT, Elda M. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Saturday afternoon, December 8, 2012 at Cartwright Hospice Residence with her family at her side. She was 95 years old. Elda M. Lincoln was born on November 6, 1917 in Saginaw to the late Charles R. and Arthella (Seeley) Lincoln. She married Edward R. Niederstadt on July 13, 1940 in Napoleon, Ohio; he preceded her in death on April 27, 1991. Elda was a 1935 graduate of Arthur Hill High School and attended her 75th class reunion. She was a supervisor at the Saginaw County Children's Receiving Home; she retired in 1941 to raise her family. She was a dedicated member of a local Saginaw TOPS Chapter and served as an officer in several capacities. She was an avid reader and gifted poet. One of her greatest joys was spending time at Torch Lake over the last 56 years. She was an avid baker; her homemade cookies and desserts were enjoyed by many. She enjoyed attending musical events and kept up on her favorite sporting teams (GO BLUE!). Surviving are four children, Lynn Niederstadt of Saginaw, Larry Niederstadt of Rapid City MI, Diane Niederstadt of Saginaw, and Brian Niederstadt of Saginaw; many nieces and nephews; a special friend, Adeline Pasterz; and beloved sister-in-law, Margaret Niederstadt. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, Edward; an infant daughter Susan Niederstadt; two sisters, Arlene Hager and Rachel Sovereen. The family wishes to extend its appreciation to the staff of Hoyt Nursing and Rehab, the staff of Covenant Cooper, 7th floor SICU, and to the Cartwright Hospice Residence. FUNERAL: A Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor William Brassow will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the funeral home on Monday, December 10, 2012 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Rescue Mission of Saginaw or the Cartwright Hospice Residence.
