Obituary of Emma Ella Gempel

GEMPEL, Emma Ella of Tampa, Florida, formerly a lifelong resident of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at the Long Term Acute Care Hospital at Connerton. She was 87 years old. Emma Ella Arcangeli was born in Saginaw on September 18, 1923 to the late Alex and Victoria Arcangeli. She married Robert Thomas Gempel on May 10, 1952 in Saginaw; he preceded her in death on August 22, 1985. Emma was a graduate of Saginaw High School and of the Saginaw Business Institute. Prior to her marriage she was employed for ten years at Saginaw Malleable Iron, working in the payroll department. Emma and her husband enjoyed traveling with the Allegro Rovers Motor Home Club, wintering in Florida, and spending time at the family cottage at Sand Lake. She also enjoyed arts and crafts and always served handmade raviolis at Christmas dinner. Surviving are a daughter, Vicky Gempel of Tampa, FL; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Arcangeli; a niece, Susan Cowell and family; a nephew, Scott Arcangeli and family; and several cousins. She was preceded in death by a son, Mark Robert Gempel; a brother, Gerald Arcangeli; and a brother-in-law, Jack Gempel. FUNERAL: Emma's Funeral Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). The Rev. Charles E. Curtis will officiate. Entombment will follow in Oakwood Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Heart Association.
