Obituary of Lloyd George Turner

TURNER, Lloyd George of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2011 at HealthSource of Saginaw with his family at his side. He was 87 years old. Lloyd George Turner was born on February 5, 1921 to the late Leon and Ruth (Farley) Turner. He was married to Rose Bishop in 1942. Lloyd later married Ardis (Ledford) Schell in 1952; she preceded him in death on January 16, 1983. He then married Emma L. Tourlangeau in May 1989; she preceded him in death on July 27, 2001. Lloyd proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Nodular Iron and previously had been employed by Consumers Power and L&W Electric. He was a member of the Saginaw American Club, 40 and 8, VFW Auxiliary Post 1859, American Legion 439, the Lions Club, the UAW Retirees and the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 497. Lloyd loved fishing, hunting and playing cards. Left to cherish his memory are his six children: Lloyd (Phyllis) Turner, Ray (Susan) Schell, Mike (Yvonne) Schell, Steve (Ruth) Schell, Anne (Paul) Hernandez, and Christopher (Patrica) Turner; 13 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son, Edward Schell. FUNERAL: Lloyd's funeral services will take place at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, 2011 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Pastor Tim Woycik will officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military Honors will be conducted under the auspices of VFW Post 1859. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial to the Wounded Warriors Fund, UMCOR or Americans First.
