Obituary of DeWayne Spencer

SPENCER, DeWayne of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at Tendercare of Frankenmuth surrounded by his family. He was 84 years old. DeWayne was born March 31, 1927 to the late Earl and Louise (Becker) Spencer. He was married to Nancy L. Porter in 1957, together they shared 54 years of marriage; she survives him. DeWayne proudly served in the U.S. Navy before graduating from Michigan State University with a degree in business. As a sales engineer, he enjoyed his work supplying grain equipment to elevators throughout Michigan until his retirement. DeWayne was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and belonged to the Germania Club, Y.M.C.A., Chamber of Commerce, Veterans Association, Michigan State Alumni, Elks Club, American Legion, and the Fordney Club. Left to cherish DeWayne's memory besides his wife, Nancy, are three sons: Mark D. (Cynthia) Spencer, Todd D. Spencer and Kipp D. Spencer; six grandchildren: Sean Spencer, Kaylee (Chris) Maze, Andrea (Adam) Berthiaume, Brooke Spencer, Brittany Spencer and Tyler Spencer; two great grandchildren: Kelsey Berthiaume and Ava Maze. FUNERAL: A funeral service for DeWayne will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 7, 2011 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Vicar Jacob Hummel will officiate. Private entombment will be at Oakwood Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends may visit with the family on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the funeral home from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
