Obituary of Mark Symons

SYMONS, Mark (Marty Simmons Jr.) of St. Charles, Michigan, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 with his family by his side. He was 74 years old. Mark Symons was born on September 25, 1936 in San Francisco, California to the late Mark E. and Helen C. (Liss) Symons. He married Edna M. Lewis on October 12, 1957; she preceded him in death on January 15, 2001. Marty worked for Eaton Manufacturing, retiring in 1999 after 44 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. Marty was the 1954 State Middle Weight Champion in Boxing. Surviving are four sons and a daughter: Mark M. Symons, Jr., of Saginaw, David Symons and his fiancée Kathy A. Blake of Owosso, Michael and Nicole Symons, of Saginaw, Greg (Barb) Symons, of St. Charles, and Susan Anderson of St. Charles; 18 grandchildren: Sarah L. Symons, Kimberly S. Symons David T. Symons, Jr., Timothy J. Symons, Jessica M. (Andrew) Tenut, Edison G. Symons, Natalie M. Symons, Melanie G. Symons, Kirsty M. Symons, Michael P. Symons, Rebecca Symons, John L. Symons, Destiny M. Symons, Thomas A. Symons, Mark P. Symons, Robert M. Symons, Ken Anderson and Melissa Anderson; 9 great grandchildren; a nephew; Paul Zielonka; a sister, Carolyn (Duane) Wilson of Freeland; also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Marty was preceded in death by a brother, Robert, and a sister, Josephine. FUNERAL: Marty's Funeral Service will take place at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 17, 2011 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State). Rev. Kenneth Parker will officiate. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with Marty's family at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and on Friday from 12:00 p.m. until the time of the service.
