Obituary of Willard Weeden

WEEDEN, Willard "Bill" of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Friday, October 26, 2012 at Covenant HealthCare - Cooper with his family at his side. He was 72 years old. Bill Weeden was born on March 6, 1940 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Earl Sr. and Eunice (Hall) Weeden. He was married to Ellen M. Bartig. Bill later married Mary Louise Gallagher; she preceded him in death on January 10, 2011. He was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School. Following graduation he proudly enlisted in the U.S. Army from November 1958 until October 1960. Bill then continued to serve his country with the Army National Guard Reserves from May 1961 until May 1963. Later in life he enrolled at Delta College and graduated with an Associate's Degree in April of 1986. Bill was employed as a Millwright with U.S. Graphite, where he was the Union chairman for 22 years, being the second longest to hold the position. He continued working as a Millwright with Delphi. He spent many years owning horses and trail riding across the State. Bill was a member of the Saginaw Field and Stream Conservation Club of Saginaw and the Saginaw Moose Lodge #82. He greatly enjoyed fishing, as well as camping with Mary Lou at the Lost Valley Campgrounds in Rose City.
Bill is survived by his daughter: Marsha (Thomas) Williams of Bay City; his son, Brian (Sara) Weeden of Lansing; two grandchildren: Sierra and Chase Williams; a brother, Melvin (Donalda) Weeden of Flushing; a sister-in-law, Mary Weeden; he is also survived by four step children, six step grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Bill was preceded in death by two infant siblings and a brother, Earl Weeden, Jr.; a sister-in-law, Pat Weeden.
FUNERAL: Bill's funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 30, 2012 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State). Rev. Rob Richards will officiate. Military honors will be provided under the auspices of American Legion Post #439.
VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home on Monday, October 29, 2012 from 1:00 until 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 until 9:00 p.m.; also on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
