Obituary of Peter Rocha

ROCHA, Peter of Saginaw, Michigan went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 12, 2012 at St. Mary's of Michigan. He was 87 years old. Peter was born on April 13, 1925 in Ennis, Texas to the late Socorro (Torres) and August Rocha. He worked for Saginaw Steering Gear. Peter was a faithful member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was involved with the prayer group, Men's Fellowship, Wednesday Morning Christian Gathering, the Cursillista and the Caballaros. He was also the St. Joseph custodian for nine years. Peter avidly enjoyed watching sports, especially his favorite team, the Detroit Tigers. Peter is survived by his siblings: Jennie (Joe) Lerma of Blue Island, IL, Carolyn Huron of Saginaw, MI, Lupe Gayton of Chicago, IL, Mary (Bill) Patino of Lansing, MI, Geraldine (Joe) Trevino of Saginaw, MI, Ramona (Mike) Jerome of Apache Junction, AZ, and Angela Rocha of Saginaw, MI; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Peter was preceded in death by four siblings: Anthony, Paul, John and Dorothy; and brothers-in-law: Thomas Huron and Ronald Gayton. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of St. Mary's CCU, Dr. Gary Brooks and his caregivers: Rosa Barajas and Rachel Anaya for the love and care they provided to Peter. FUNERAL- Peter's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 16, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 906 N. 6th St. Rev. Fr. Frank Voris OFMCap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. VISITATION- Friends may visit with Peter's family at Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, October 15, 2012 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:30 pm. Monday evening. Peter will lie in state at the church on Tuesday 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
