Obituary of Marcella C. Rivette

RIVETTE, Marcella C. of Zilwaukee, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Healthsource of Saginaw. She was 92 years old. Marcella C. Summerfield was born on October 16, 1919 in Saginaw, MI to the late Frank and Minnie (Schroeder) Summerfield. She married Abel J. Rivette on May 18, 1940 in Zilwaukee; he preceded her in death on November 5, 1980. Marcella graduated from Saginaw High School, and worked at Weichman's Department Store until she married the love of her life, Abel. She was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Marcella was nominated Saginawian of the year in 1981 for helping others get around town to appointments and events. Her philosophy was "My friends come before my dust." Marcella loved her family and friends and enjoyed Crocheting and playing Euchre. Surviving are two daughters: Carol (Bruce) Leuenberger of Kochville, Twp., Joyce (Francis) Rush of Farwell; a daughter-in-law, Carol Rivette of Zilwaukee, MI; four grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and a sister, Lorraine Rivette. She was preceded in death by a daughter and a son: Alice A. Rivette, David B. Rivette; and two brothers: Vernon and Lyle Summerfield. Marcella's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of HealthSource of Saginaw and the Saginaw Senior Care Center. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2012 at St. Matthew Catholic Church, 511 W. Cornell. Rev. Fr. Ronald J. Dombrowski will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Monday, October 1, 2012 from 3:00 until 8:00 p.m. Marcella will lie in state at the church on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
