Obituary of Richard Green

Green, Richard "Rich" Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed away peacefully on Friday, February 19, 2021 after a brief stay at HealthSource-Saginaw. He was 84 years old. Richard Michael Green was born on March 25, 1936 in Saginaw to the late Roy and Kathryn (McInerney) Green. He was a proud 1954 graduate of St. Mary Catholic High School. Following graduation Richard honorably served his country by enlisting in the United States Army, serving in the States and Korea and receiving an honorable discharge on July 6, 1960. He married Barbara Herzog on February 19, 1982, in Saginaw, Michigan. Rich worked for Reed Paper and later as a driver for Napolitano Bakery until his retirement. He enjoyed life to the fullest with singing, joke telling and camaraderie with family and many friends. He loved to watch U of M football. Richard is survived by his wife, Barbara; three daughters: Michele A. Green of Traverse City, MI, Kelly A. Royer of Battle Creek, MI, and Kathryn "Katie" Green of Bath, Maine; three grandchildren: Robert (Crystal) Woods Jr. of Saginaw, MI, Anthony Woods of Traverse City, MI, and Olivia A. Royer of Battle Creek, MI; two great grandchildren: Ciera and Chase; two sisters: Mary K. (Bill) Herzog of Saginaw and Judi Neering of Essexville, MI; sister-in-law, Sue Green of Saginaw. He was also a loving uncle to three nieces and four nephews and many many friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Patrick (Rusty) Green. SERVICE: In keeping with Richard's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 3, 2021 at Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd., Holly, MI 48442 with military honors under the auspices of the United States Army. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required, social distancing and gathering guidelines will be observed.
