Obituary of Lance Edward Smith
Please share a memory of Lance to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Lance Edward Smith passed away unexpectedly February 2, 2021 at Covenant Healthcare with his family by his side. He was born on October 23, 1956 in Saginaw the son of Louis and Eloise (Blondin) Smith I. Lance was a proud parent and grandparent and a beaming great grandparent.
He was a proud Navy Veteran and supporter of the Wounded Warrior Project. Lance loved all animals and supported ASPCA. He was a strong believer and supporter of human rights and equal rights, LGBTQ, and Black Lives Matter. Lance was an avid reader with corresponding intellect and curiosity and a never ending love of learning.
Lance is survived by a daughter; Sonya Smith (RJ Smith), son; Louis Plume, grandchildren; Alexander Engel (Haley Engel) Tori Reo (Mack Nugent), great-grandchildren; Druid O'Conner -Jupiter Engel, siblings; Sheila Smith (Jennifer Howard), Connie Smith, Louanne Smith (Tom Bedford), Darren Smith, Sean Smith (April Bebe), step-brothers; David (Lynda) MacArthur, Douglas (Jan) MacArthur and Bennett (Vickie) MacArthur, step-sisters; Carol (Dennis) Wojciechowski and Ellen (Jeff)Newton.
Besides Lance's parents, he was preceded in death by his step-mother; Betty MacArthur Smith and siblings; Dennis Smith, Terrence Smith and Sharon Dupuis.
Lance had many nieces, nephews, and friends that he loved dearly, and he was very fortunate that his best friend since kindergarten, Eddie Green, remained his best friend, supportive and in contact regularly. Also, from early childhood, Barb Green was his loyal friend and regular confident. We thank them both for how much they enriched his life.
Lance made the world around him brighter, and we will miss his loving heart, his wonderful wit, and his beautiful mind.
A memorial service will be held at a later date, and will be announced on Lance's Facebook page.
