Obituary of Joni Kay Nickel

Joni Kay Nickel passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2021 surrounded by her loving family. She was 64 years old. She was born June 21, 1956 in Saginaw, Michigan to Russell and Judith (Constantine) Kleiber. Joni graduated from Buena Vista High School. She married Joseph Nickel on September 25, 1992 in Saginaw, Michigan. What Joni loved most was spending time with her family. She cherished the simple things in life, like family barbeques, birthday parties, and attending her kid's sporting events and activities. She was a warm and caring person, always welcoming everyone into her home. She gave the best hugs and always treated everyone like they were family. Her favorite things to do were getting ice cream, knitting and crafting, going on family vacations up north, and taking road trips. She is survived by her husband Joseph Nickel, her three children, Dustyn (Emily) Morgan, Whitney (Kevin) Lee, and Katie (Austin) Culver, her four sisters, Karen Kowalewski, Kelly (John) Slaven, Sheryl (Mark) Faulknor, and Beth (Mike) Arnold, three grandchildren, Simon, Mateo, and Hadley, and several nieces and nephews. Joni was greeted in heaven by her parents Russell and Judith along with a niece Lindsay. Joni's family would like to thank the Toni & Trish House for the wonderful care they provided to Joni. SERVICES: A private family service will take place on Friday, February 5, 2021. VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, February 5, 2021 from 11:00AM until 2:00 PM. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required, social distancing, and gathering guidelines will be observed.
