Hubert Frederick "Herb" Yurgens, a crane operator and excavator, life-long resident of Saint Charles, MI, joined his wife in Heaven at the age of 65 years after a short battle with liver cancer on Sunday, January 25th, 2021. Herb is survived by his mother, Mary Alice Erskine (Hare) and sisters Julie Gath and Mary (Tom) Fouss as well as daughter Tiffany (Mitchell) Layer and son Adam (Jill) Yurgens. He leaves behind three grand daughters Claire Layer, Roxy Layer and Makayla Yurgens as well as four grand sons Maximus Layer, Weston Yurgens, Dylan Yurgens and Korbin Yurgens. He will also be missed by many special nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his wife, Pamela (Latosynski) Yurgens, his father, Fred Yurgens as well as brothers James, Daniel and Gary Yurgens. Herb was a hard worker who has been in the construction industry for over 40 years. He started pouring cement at seventeen years old and has been part of many special projects throughout the tri-city area. Most recently he worked doing demolition projects and will be greatly missed by his co- workers and close friends Billy Bourdow and Zach Ziembo. Best known as "The Herb-inator" he could take down a building in record time. He truly enjoyed his work and rarely ever missed a day, even while fighting cancer he took every opportunity to get in just one more job. In his free time Herb enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a member of the Wolverine Sportsman's Club in St. Charles, MI. Most of all, Herb enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He never missed a game or special event they were involved with. He loved to be outdoors and took every opportunity to enjoy nature. Herb was a caring man and would always be the first to offer help to someone in need. He was a spiritual man and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church for many years.
