Obituary of Gerald Allen Haeger

Haeger, Gerald Allen Thomas Township Passed away peacefully on Wednesday evening, January 6, 2021 at Chesaning Comfort Care after a 12 year battle with Alzheimer's. He was 82 years old. Gerald Allen Haeger was born November 7, 1938 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Chester and Marcena (Haynes) Haeger. He married Jacqueline "Jackie" Tomforde on October 8, 1960 at State Street Methodist Church in Saginaw. Gerald attended Arthur Hill High School, graduating in 1956. He went onto attend General Motors Institute and graduated in 1960, earning a bachelor degree in mechanical engineering. He was employed Saginaw Manufacturing as a mechanical engineer, retiring in 1988 after 32 years of service. In 1988 he moved to Onekama, Michigan and returned to Saginaw in 2018. Gerald loved fishing, hunting, and playing golf. He spent 15 years wintering in Harlingen, Texas where he joined a woodworking class and made many wood bowls, trays and many other wood products. Gerald loved working with his hands and was known by his children as a perfectionist. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Jacqueline; children, Donald Haeger (Auburn, MI), Dr. Robert (Leslie) Haeger (Seattle, WA), and Karen (Dean) Krueger (Withee, WI); seven grandchildren, Matthew (Samantha) Haeger, Andrew (Nicole) Haeger, Kevin (Megan) Krueger, Steven Krueger, Andrew, Claire and Laurel Haeger; one great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Haeger; brother, Dr. Ronald J. (Mary) Haeger. Gerald was preceded in death by his sister in-law, Ann Haeger. FUNERAL SERVICE: In keeping with Gerald's wishes, cremation has taken place. The Haeger family is planning to hold a memorial at a later date. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Valley Hospice.
