Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and dear friend passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 5, 2020 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was 87 years old. Mary Katherine Brasseur was born on August 26, 1933 in Saginaw to the late Joseph and Marion (Sonsmith) Brasseur. Mary Kay graduated from Holy Family High School in 1951. She married William L. Jurek Sr. on February 16, 1952 at Holy Family Catholic Church, he preceded her in death on November 14, 2001. Mary Kay worked at Michigan Bookkeeping for 25 years, she then worked for Dr. C. Indira as a medical assistant until her retirement on May 11, 2006. She was a faithful member of St. Dominic Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church since 1954. Mary Kay enjoyed cleaning the church and doing hospitality there until her health prevented it. In her free time, she loved to spend long weekends at Wixom Lake with her family, and trips to the casino.
Mary Kay loved to spend time with her family and will be deeply missed by her children: William (Pam) Jurek Jr., Joanne (Rick) Schrems, James (Vicki) Jurek, Robert Jurek, and David (Sue) Jurek; 16 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; sisters: Carol Murphy and Sharon Ciesla; sisters-in-law: Marilyn Jurek and Connie (Don) Fortier; many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends.
Mary Kay was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William Jurek Sr.; daughter, Jill Katherine Jurek and sister, Luritta LaLonde.
FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, December 9, 2020 at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required, social distancing, and gathering guidelines will be observed.
VISITATION: Family and friends will visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Tuesday, December 8, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at the funeral home on Tuesday night at 7:00 p.m. held by Pastor Associate, Sharon Wahl. Mary Kay will be taken to the church to lie in state on Wednesday, from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
