Gonzalez, Rafael Saginaw, Michigan Our dear brother, Rafael Gonzalez, passed away unexpectedly on December 1, 2020. Rafael, son of Jose and Manuela Gonzalez was born December 16, 1937. He graduated from St. Joseph High School. He then joined the United States Air Force. He served for four years and was honorably discharged. Afterwards, he moved to Orlando, Florida and was the owner of a successful Sub Shop restaurant. Rafael was a very generous man. He was known as "Santa Claus" to many people in need. He would often accumulate items, so that he could give them to others. He was an avid reader. He also enjoyed meeting new people and socializing. He had a quick wit and a great sense of humor. Left to cherish fond memories, are his siblings: Frank (Mary Helen), Sr. Dorena Gonzalez, Alicia Robison, Louie (Sharon), Raul (Minnie), Maria Elena Moreno, Jesse (Susie) Gonzales and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rafael was preceded in death by his parents, and his brothers: Benjamin, Ramiro, Benny and Jose A. Gonzalez. According to the family's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to the current health crisis, a private family service will be held with burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd.
