Please share a memory of William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Kubik, William "Bill" B. Saginaw, Michigan William "Bill" B. Kubik age 92 of Saginaw passed comfortably & quietly on Wednesday November 25, 2020. He enlisted in the Navy at 17 in, he 'hated school' had to have is mother sign the paperwork to have him enlist. Veteran of 3 wars WII, Pacific Theatre-Korea, Vietnam. He served as a Chief Petty Officer from 1945 - 1969 in The United States Navy. He married Gladys M. Meyer on August 12, 1950 and had two sons Bill and Jim. Upon discharge in 1969, he became the only manager of the first Dairy Queen Restaurant in Saginaw. This job was just not something he wanted to do working 16 - 18 hours a day, 7 days a week, so he went to work as an Insurance agent at Edward Meyer & Sons (his father-in-law) and spent the rest of his career as an Insurance 'salesman'. He helped a lot of people in Saginaw and the surrounding area during his 30+ years as an Insurance salesman. Back in the day, he actually took a '68 Dodge Charger as a payment and that started his son's involvement in cars, one he probably wishes he didn't. He loved spending time with the grandkids when he was able to see them each week. He enjoyed the time he spent when they did soapbox derby and this gave each of them time to get to know each other. He also enjoyed when we took them out to eat every Friday or Saturday night. He got to hear about all the "things" going on in their life. He was involved in VFW Post 1859; Fleet Reserve Association (FRA) 358; Saginaw Navy League; Saginaw Veterans plaza. He was a longtime blood donor who was proud to have donated over 22 gallons in his lifetime. The family wishes to thank the responding EMT's, Covenant Hospital, and the VA Hospital Hospice personal who never let him be alone and kept him comfortable in his last days. We also would like to thank Dan and Nancy Maul for their weekly lawncare and snow removal. For the last few years, if it were not for them, dad would still be out there using his leaf blower to blow snow off the driveway. Predeceased by his wife Gladys, March 08, 2003, and youngest son Jim, May 11, 2018. Surviving are his son, Bill, Daughter-in-Law Marci; grandson, Geoffrey and his wife Amanda and 2 great grandkids; grandson, Tylor and his fiancé, Peyton; sister-in-law, Betty Boyd and her husband Christopher Michael (Smokey); brother-in-law, James Meyer and his wife Janice, and their daughter, Jennifer. Those desiring, may make a contribution to Veterans of Foreign Wars & Wounded Warrior at www.heroes.vfw.org and Saginaw Veterans Plaza at 1574 S. Washington Ave, Saginaw, MI 48601. ***Due to COVID-19 the family is not having any funeral or viewing services*** We would prefer to keep everyone safe to enjoy their families without incident as well as, having his friends and family remember him as they last saw him and with that last memory.
