Hernandez, Elida "Lee" Saginaw, Michigan Beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and aunt passed away peacefully on Tuesday evening, November 10, 2020 at HealthSource Saginaw. She was 79 years old. Elida Ramirez was born May 12, 1941 in Bastrop, Texas to the late Alberto and Adela (Hernandez) Ramirez. She married William Hernandez on July 28, 1973 in Saginaw, Michigan. Lee was employed by General Motors, retiring after 25 years of service. She was a faithful and active member of St. John Paul II Parish, St. Josaphat Catholic Church for many years. Lee was also a member of the Rosary Society. She volunteered for the Saginaw Rescue Mission and Carrollton Public Schools for many years. Lee loved to travel with her husband, William. She also enjoyed going to dances and taking many trips to the casino. Lee liked to garden and spend time among her beautiful flowers. But, what she really loved most was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren who she showered with love. Surviving are her husband, William Hernandez; children, Paula Martinez, Raquel Perez, Rita (David) Kontur, and Ramon (Danielle) Hernandez; grandchildren, Cynthia Perez, Federico Perez, Isaiah Hough, David Kontur, Jessica Kontur, Andrew Kontur, Matthew Kontur, and Autumn Hernandez; one great-granddaughter, Stella Perez-Groizard; siblings, Emma Corona and Alberto (Carmen) Ramirez Jr.; sisters in-law, Delores Ramirez, Gloria Martinez, Lucy (Larry) Pomeroy, Mary Lou Prather, and Marilyn Hernandez; brothers in-law, Rick Hernandez, James Hernandez, Henry (Lois) Hernandez and many nieces and nephews. Lee was preceded in death by her brother, Miguel Ramirez; brother in-law, Tiburcio Corona; special niece and nephews, Angelina Perez, Steven Perez, and Michael Ramirez. FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 18, 2020 at St. John Paul II Parish, St. Josaphat Site, 469 Shattuck Road Saginaw, Michigan. Rev. Fr. William Rutkowski will officiate. Rite of Committal to follow at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Tuesday, November 17, 2020 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A vigil service will be held on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 11:00 a.m. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Saginaw Rescue Mission or St. John Paul II Parish.
