Newvine, Lawrence "Larry" Saginaw, Michigan Beloved husband, dad, and grandpa passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, October 29, 2020 at HealthSource Saginaw following complications from dementia. He was 84 years old. Larry was born March 2, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late Walter and Marie (Imker) Newvine. He married Gail Pohlman on October 20, 1956 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Saginaw. Larry proudly served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Stuttgart, Germany. He was employed by Pepsi Cola for many years and retired from Max R. H. Treu (Fabiano Brothers), retiring after 35 years of service. Larry was past President of Teamsters Local 486 for several years. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church for over 60 years and is now a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Saginaw Township. Larry had a strong faith in the word of God. He loved golfing and was on many leagues through the years. Larry enjoyed bowling and watching sports on TV. He also enjoyed traveling to Florida and Las Vegas for many years. But, what he really loved most was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Surviving are his wife, Gail Newvine; children, Tracy (John) Irwin of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, Thomas (Fiancé Sheryl Adele Cherry) Newvine of Saginaw Township, MI, Lisa (David) Fortin of Williamston, MI, and Susan (Greg) Garno of Midland, MI; he was preceded in death by his son Daniel Newvine six months ago; he also leaves five loving grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, Thea, and Sidney Fortin and Emilie Sue Garno; special friend, Darrell Gatza and several nieces and nephews. Larry was also preceded in death by his brother Duane Newvine and his daughter in-law Carlene Newvine. In keeping with Larry's wishes, cremation has taken place. Due to the current health crisis there are no services planned at this time. Larry's family is planning to hold a memorial service at a later and safer time. The Newvine family would like to thank the nurses and staff in the Great Lakes Neighborhood Unit at HealthSource for the kind and compassionate care they provided to Larry.
