Obituary of Dorothy Anne Rogoza

Rogoza, Dorothy Anne, age 93, passed away early Thursday morning, October 22, 2020 at Bickford Assisted Living with family at her side. Dorothy was born June 3, 1927 in Ithaca, Michigan, to the late Cecil and Gladys (Hruska) Pressley. She was united in marriage to Chester Rogoza on February 11, 1950 in Alma, Michigan. Dorothy graduated from Ithaca High School and went on to obtain her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Michigan State University. She was a substitute teacher for the Saginaw and the Carrollton school districts for many years and also volunteered for the READ and HOSTS programs in the schools. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a longtime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and then St. John Paul II Catholic Church where she really enjoyed singing in the choir. Dorothy was very active at Pit & Balcony Theatre. Besides performing in many productions, she was a playwright, worked on costumes, and taught summer workshops. Dorothy also enjoyed Jazzercise, gardening, and participating in community events. She will be dearly missed. Dorothy is survived by her three children; Cathy Heise, Nancy (Buz) Wheeler and Carol (Craig) Fisher, daughter in-law; Kathy Rogoza, eight grandchildren; Kevin (Teri) Heise, Brandon (Ronda Armstrong), Laura (fiancé Anthony Gleis) and Kaitlyn Fisher, Travis (Shannon) and Sandra Wheeler and Brittany and Kelsey Rogoza, seven great-grandchildren; Gillian, Gage and Georgia Heise, Benjamin Armstrong-Fisher, Theodore Wheeler, Edward Rogoza and Maxwell Alsup, sister; Mary Winter, brother; Robert (Anne) Pressley and many nieces and nephews. Dorothy was preceeded in death by her husband Chester and son Christopher. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place on Thursday, October 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM at St. John Paul II Catholic Church (St. Josaphat site) 469 Shattuck Rd. with Rev. Fr. Adam Maher to officiate. Private entombment to follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. In Accordance with Health Department guidelines masks will be required, social distancing will be observed and limitations on the number in attendance will be enforced. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State) on Wednesday, October 28 from 6:00-8:00 P.M. and on Thursday at St. John Paul II Catholic Church from 12:00 PM until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider St. John Paul II Catholic Church or Pit and Balcony Theater.
