Benjamin (Benny) Stolz Gonzales
Ocoee, Florida
Went peacefully in his sleep to be with the Lord on August 18, 2020 at the age of 84, supported by his beloved wife, Linda Pena Gonzalez at his side in their home in Ocoee, Florida. Benjamin Stolz Gonzales born on January 13, 1936 in Saginaw, MI to the late Rafael and Katherine Stolz Gonzales. Benny was raised by his adoptive parents, Jose Maria and Manuela Gonzales. He attended St. Joseph High School and began his work life as a migrant worker and shoe shine boy. Benny took great pride in working in Warehousing and as a Storeroom Keeper for Michigan Sugar for 32 years. After retirement, he and his wife moved to Ocoee, FL and became successful business owners of the "Quick Stop" restaurant in Ocoee, FL for over 10 years.
Ben's most important work was as a faithful servant of Jesus Christ. He was most proud of his personal Mission Field to share the good news of Jesus Christ with everyone everywhere he went in life, from a waitress at a restaurant to an Elvis impersonator in a parking lot! He was affectionately known as "the candy man" because he would reward strangers with candy for good deeds or because they took the time to listen to "the message." In addition, he served and was an elder at his beloved church, Cornerstone Community.
Ben is survived by his wife, Linda of 44 years; five brothers: Louis (Sharon), Frank (Mary Helen), Ralph, Raul (Herminia) and Jesse (Susie) Gonzales; three sisters: Sister Dorina Gonzales, Maria Elena (Tony) Morino and Alice Robison; six daughters: Vonda Lee, Judy, Katherine, Tara, Margaret and Valerie; and two sons: Fred and Jose. He leaves behind numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren with special mention to his beloved grandsons: Justin Hawvor and Jesse Benson.
Ben was preceded in death by his birth parents; adoptive parents; and three brothers: Benjamin, Jose and Ramiro.
