Obituary of Theodota Marie Clark

CLARK, Theodota Marie "Dot" of Saginaw, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved her deeply on Monday, September 17, 2012 at HealthSource Saginaw. She was 85 years of age. Theodota M. Gordon was born on March 8, 1927 in Saginaw, Michigan to the late William H. and Hortense (Owens) Gordon. She attended SS. Peter and Paul Catholic School graduating in 1945. It was there she met the love of her life, John Clark, who was born on the same day and year - just five hours later. After attending St. Mary's School of Nursing, they married on October 11, 1947 and would have marked their 65th anniversary this fall. Dot was employed as a surgical tech at Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1979. Dot is survived by her husband John; two daughters: Cynthia (Robert) Kelly, Kathleen Clark; four grandchildren: Bridget (Nick) Guttman, Sean (Anke) Kelly, Brian (Hazel) Hart, Erin (Jeremy) Watson; four great-grandchildren: Camron and Ryan Guttman, Abigail Hart, and Jack Watson with a fifth great-grandchild due in September. She is also survived by two sisters: Lois Peterson, Sally Markey; a sister-in-law, Joan Lynch; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her parents, Dot was predeceased by two brothers: James and William Gordon; her father and mother-in-law: John and Maude Clark; three sisters-in-law: Audrey Speckard, Colleen Auld and Christine Rutherford. The family would like to thank everyone in the Great Lakes Neighborhood at HealthSource for their compassionate care and kindness towards Dot during her stay. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 21, 2012 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 1035 N. River Road. Rev. Fr. David L. Parsch will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening. Dot will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
