PAQUETTE, Jack Richard of Shields passed away on Sunday, September 16, 2012 at his home surrounded by his family. He was 82 years old. Jack was born on May 9, 1930 in Saginaw, to the late Arthur George and Elizabeth (Kozan) Paquette. He married Marianne (Cesere) Wenzel on June 27, 1981; she survives him. Jack was a graduate of Arthur Hill High School Class of 1948. He proudly served his country as a SEABEE in the U.S. Navy in Greenland during the Korean War from 1948-1952. Jack lived in Omena, Michigan, where he owned and operated Paquette Electric and a cherry orchard. He also worked at Saginaw Steering Gear from 1952-1967 and from 1978 until his retirement in 1992, as a maintenance supervisor. He was a faithful member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church and American Legion Post 314 in Shields. Surviving are his loving wife Marianne; four children: Reneé, Matthew, Jason, and Craig Paquette; two stepchildren: Robert (Tina) Wenzel and Lisa (Tim) Naessens; nine grandchildren; three great grandchildren; five siblings: Joann Hausman, Arthur (Laraine) Paquette, Robert (Mary Kay) Paquette, Patricia (Robert) Coffey, Jerry Paquette; two brothers-in-law: Leo (Ann) Cesere and Pete (Pat) Cesere. Jack was preceded in death by his former wife, Esther (Reisig) Paquette; two brothers-in-law: Don Hausman and Robert Cesere. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 20, 2012 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson will officiate. Military honors will follow Mass at the church, under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. Honoring Jack's wishes cremation, will follow. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Wednesday from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will take place at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday evening. Jack will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, the American Diabetes Association or Autism Society of Michigan.
