Geraldine (Geri) Thompson Saginaw Twp., Michigan Our loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and Nana, passed away peacefully at Wellspring Lutheran Services Assisted Living in Saginaw on Saturday, August 29, 2020. She was born September 19, 1940 in Richland Township, in Saginaw County, to Henry and Mary Eurich. She was the youngest of 10 children. She was baptized and confirmed at Iva Lutheran Church. After graduating from Breckenridge High School, she moved to Saginaw and took on a Nanny position. While she was visiting her boss with her Youth Group at the VA hospital she met Thomas C. "Tommy" Thompson, who would become her husband. They courted only two weeks when Tommy asked her to marry him. They were married in the VA chapel by Pastor Frye on May 27, 1961. Geri and Tom had a small family owned business called "Thompson's Way Side" in Saginaw. Though the business was small, it made a big impact on customers, a lot of whom became friends. Geri and her husband were devout Christians. They were active members of Peace Lutheran Church, in Saginaw. Geri used her voice for the PEP line at Peace and was active in Bible Study, Mom's in Touch child care, and volunteered in the school library. She worked in the morning Latch Key program at Peace Lutheran School until she retired at the age of 75. Geri enjoyed being a homemaker, playing cards with her husband Tom and their friends, sewing, ironing, cooking, watching TV, listening to music, going out to eat, and taking short drives past her childhood hometown. But, none of these could equal the joy she felt just being around her family, especially her three grandchildren. While at Wellspring, she enjoyed art classes, music, wonderful care and love with newly found friendships. Surviving are her daughters and their husbands: Tammy and Tim Kelly and Merry and Leo Feith; granddaughter: Emily and her husband, Ben Jenson; grandsons: Zachary Kelly, Noah and his wife, Emma Kelly; and a new great grandson, Finn Jenson. She was predeceased by her husband Tom, along with both parents, several brothers and sisters and close friends. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Geri will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Peace Lutheran Church, 3427 Adams Ave. Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Bert Eggers will officiate. Burial will be at Oakwood Cemetery, next to her husband, Tom. Following current State mandated regulations, masks will be required, social distancing and limits on attendance will be observed. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Peace Lutheran Ministries Tuition Assistance Fund. The Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) is honored to be serving the Thompson family.
