Obituary of Barbara Joan Card

Card, Barbara Joan Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday July 18, 2020 in Fountain Hills, AZ with her daughters by her side. She was 90 years old. Barbara Joan Korkus was born December 15, 1929 in Saginaw, MI to the late Joseph and Josephine (Kruhalski) Korkus. Barbara was a lifelong resident of Saginaw. She attended grade school at St. Casimir and graduated from SS. Peter & Paul High School. After graduation she married Thomas Card on October 11, 1947. He preceded her in death on July 24, 1991. Barbara was long time member of SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Dominic Parish. She was a member of the Altar Society, and Past President of Local 85 Woman's Auxiliary. Barbara was an artist, quilter and crafter. She was an avid baker who loved to decorate cakes for birthdays, weddings and school homecoming events. Barbara liked playing bingo and cards with friends. She thoroughly enjoyed trips to Las Vegas. Barbara loved visiting Mackinaw Island and spending time with her family. She also loved spending the winters in Arizona where she enjoyed going to the park to watch the dogs and sitting in the backyard on her glider watching the birds and wildlife. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Barbara was fortunate to be a stay at home Mom. She is survived by her children, Richard (Lordeen) Card of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, Irene "Rene" (Dick) Shell of Woodinville, Washington and Mary Card of Fountain Hills, Arizona, her nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Emily, Matthew, Melissa, Michael, Andy, Lisa, Joclyn, and Clint, eleven great grandchildren, Taasha, Cherrelle, DaVontae, Noah, Reya, Rick, Anna, Violet, Calvin, Hazel, and Richard Francis. (Ricky). She is survived by many nieces and nephews. Barbara was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Theresa Jean Card and her son, Andrew Card; brothers, Carl Korkus and Jim Korkus. FUNERAL SERVICE: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 27, 2020 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, St. Dominic Parish, 4735 W. Michigan Ave., Saginaw, MI 48638. Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, July 26, 2020 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A vigil service will be held on Sunday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Starr Commonwealth, Albion, MI or St. Jude Research Hospital.
