Obituary of Evelyn Magalski

Evelyn J Magalski 10/24/1934-07/21/2020 Saginaw, Michigan formerly of Farwell, MI. Our loving mother, aunt, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away peacefully on July 21, 2020 at her Wellspring home in Saginaw, MI. During Evelyn's final weeks, her family is very thankful for being able to be with her. Evelyn Janice Cooper Magalski was born on 10/24/34 in Sault Ste. Marie, MI to the late Roy and Florence (Calbeck) Cooper. She graduated from Soo High, class of 1952. Evelyn married Henry J Magalski on September 19, 1953. They celebrated 64 years of marriage before Henry's passing in November, 2017. Evelyn was a Charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Clare Aerie 3977 for over 30 years. Evelyn served as Secretary for 10 years, and also chaplain and trustee. She was honored as "Mother of the Year" in 1993. Evelyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, reading, music and pontoon rides on Lake 13. Evelyn enjoyed baking, especially German Chocolate Cakes and "Christmas Date Bars". Evelyn was a courageous dialysis patient for 5 years. Evelyn is survived by her children: Carol Lechel, Janis (Bill) Zielinski, Joseph (Karen) Magalski, Nancy (Jim) Klein, Mary Jo (Brian) Hoff, Andy (Nena) Magalski, 10 grandchildern: Matt(Mel) Lechel, Brian(Sarah) Keenan-Lechel, Scott (Meaghan) Zielinski, Julie (Reece) Fischell, Kristie (Kevin) Lapplander, Michelle (Matt) Bailey, Steven Magalski, Kevin (Beth) Klein, John and Nathan Hoff, 8 great-grandchildren: Presley and Violet Zielinski, Daisy and Hugo Bailey, Isadora and Theodore Klein, Kai Daacon-Lechel, Maura Keenan-Lechel, brother-in-law: T.L. Hart, sister-in-law Anna Cooper, special nephew and niece Dale (Maureen) Brown and Connie Wixted and many other loving family and friends. Evelyn was predeceased by her husband Henry, parents, siblings: Bud Cooper, Barbara Brown, Jimmy Cooper, and Billy Cooper, and son-in-law Bill Lechel. Funeral: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 24, 2020 at St. John Vianney Catholic Church, 6400 McCarty Rd., Saginaw, MI 48603. Rev. Fr. Richard Jozwiak will officiate. Private Committal Services will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery.. In keeping with mandated ordinances and for the safety of the community, face masks are required and social distancing will be observed. Visitation: Friends and family are welcome to visit at the St. John Vianney Catholic Church Friday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service on Friday, July 24, 2020. The family would like to thank the staff of Wellspring Assisted Living, Grace Hospice and Davita Dialysis Hoyt Street for their kindness and compassionate care.
