Obituary of Boyd Allen Sanford

Sanford, Boyd Allen East Tawas, Michigan Beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle passed away on Wednesday, July 8, 2020 at Ascension St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw. He was 78 years old. Boyd Allen Sanford was born on March 15, 1942 in Russellville, Kentucky to the late Horace and Bonnie (Addison) Sanford. He married Mirasol Orcullo on April 19, 2011 in the Philippines. They renewed their vows on May 20, 2016 in Tawas City, Michigan. Boyd proudly served his country with the United States Navy for 10 years. While serving with the United States Navy, he earned the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He courageously served during the Cyprus Conflict. Boyd then served with the Ohio National Guard for an additional 20 years before retiring, earning the rank of Sergeant Major. He was also employed by Ohio Bell as an installer at their Central Office and retired as a manager in their engineering department after 20 years. Boyd loved listening to music. He was a skilled gunsmith and an avid firearm collector. Boyd also enjoyed the hobbies of leather crafting and jewelry making. Surviving are his wife, Mirasol Sanford; three daughters, Kelly Morgan, Angela (Thomas) Abraham, and Christina (Michael) McDowell; seven grandchildren, Jessica Buchanan, Brendan Morgan, Marissa (Haley) Weber, Collin (Lisha) Morgan, Thomas Abraham II, Logan and Michaela McDowell; great-granddaughter, Nevaeh Smith; two siblings, Carolyn (Robert) Madden and Lloyd Sanford, and many nieces and nephews. Boyd was preceded in death by his brother, Floyd Sanford; his sister, Nellie (Monroe) Biggs; and his sister in-law, Nella Sanford. MEMORIAL SERVICE: In keeping with Boyd's wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be planned at a later date.
