Obituary of Donald Chaltraw

CHALTRAW, DONALD, Saginaw, Michigan
Don, age 78, passed away at St. Mary's Hospital on March 31, 2020. Don was born in Saginaw on October 18, 1941, to Joseph and Irene Chaltraw. Don married Kathleen on August 6, 1966. She survives him.
Don was employed as a general manager at Vescio's Grocery Store in Saginaw for 25 years. He then worked as a courier for St. Mary's Hospital until the time of his retirement in 2003.
Don was the love of Kathleen's life for 54 years! He was a wonderful father and grandfather. He was loved by everyone. He had a passion for cooking and baking for family and friends. His specialty was lemon meringue pie. He was a kind and loving person who would help anyone. Don enjoyed country music and line dancing with Kathleen. He was a member of the Moose Lodge 82 for 42 years.
Don is survived by his wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Catherine (David) Alexander, Toni Potts (Bob Duby); three grandchildren, Sydney Potts, Jessica Potts, and Colton Potts; former son-in-law, Dr. Jeffrey Potts; three brothers, David (Ann) Chaltraw, Kenny (Debra) Chaltraw, and Gary (Sheril, Deceased) Chaltraw; brother-in-law, John (Rita) Dovin; special niece and nephew, Mary and Kim Seelhoff; special friends, Tom and Carol Haremski and Rosemary Martin; multiple nieces and nephews and other close friends. Don is also survived by his favorite furry friend, Cupcake.
Don was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Irene Chaltraw; in-laws, Joseph and Florence Campanelli; sister-in-law, Janice Dovin; brother-in-law, Jerry Dovin; brothers and sisters, Roy (Frannie) Chaltraw, Shirley (Edward) Martin, James (Rose) Chaltraw, Dale (Joannie) Chaltraw, Bruce (Virginia) Chaltraw, Patricia (James) Roberts, Joseph Chaltraw, Leola Schuler, Dorothy Marsden, Sheril Chaltraw, Irene (Larry) Soule, and Gerald Chaltraw.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff at St. Mary's Hospital, Samaritas Senior Living of Saginaw, Dr. Nikolai Kinachtchouck, and Dr. John Collins.
FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy for Don will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 4, 2020 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Road (off State). Rev. Fr. Andrew LaFramboise will officiate with burial to follow at St. Andrew Cemetery. In accordance with State mandated ordinances the limitations of the number gathered and safe distancing will be observed. For those that are unable to attend the funeral liturgy, the service will be livestreamed at 11:00 a.m. at http://client.tribucast.com/tcid/10385980
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
