Obituary of Edward Allen Leddy

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend was called home to heaven by his Savior Saturday evening, March 7, 2020 with his family by his side. He was 83 years old.
Edward was born on July 13, 1936 in Saginaw, Michigan the son of the late Harriett (Price) and Michael Leddy and his step-father Adolph Weideman. Edward married the former Alice Neuenfeldt on August 8, 1959. Together, they enjoyed 60 years of marriage. Edward attended Hemlock High School. He was a faithful member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church in Saginaw. He continued to profess his faith in his Lord until his death. He found comfort in listening to Rev. Wilke read him Bible passages and listening to several of his favorite hymns.
Edward was a journeyman carpenter by trade and built numerous roads and bridges throughout Michigan and surrounding states. He served in the United States Army and received a good conduct medal and National Defense Medal (Korean War) prior to his honorable discharge. He was a retired member of the Michigan Carpenters Local 706. After his retirement, he worked for another 10 years driving tractor at Michigan Sugar in Bay City.
Edward enjoyed gardening and freely gave his fruits and vegetables to many family members, friends and neighbors. He enjoyed building things for his children and grandchildren and could often be found outside working with his Farmall tractor or doing yardwork. Edward also enjoyed sitting with his dog, attending his grandchildren's sporting events, award ceremonies and graduations. He was always their number one supporter and guiding influence in their lives.
Surviving besides his loving wife Alice are four children and their spouses; Susan and Randy Rossow, Edward (Mary) Leddy, Jr., Sylvia Henricks and Richard and Tricia Leddy, fifteen grandchildren and their spouses; seventeen great-grandchildren; one brother and his wife, Mike and Sugar Leddy; three sisters in-law, Maxine, June and Janet Leddy and many nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and step-father, Edward was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister; Dale, Lawrence, John, Herb, Tom and Elsie; daughter in-law, Margaret "Margo" Leddy; brothers and sisters in-law, Alan Cardinal, Geraldine Leddy Hank and Clara Miller, Elvin and Ruth Rohn.
FUNERAL: Funeral services for Edward will take place at 11:00 AM, on Tuesday, March 10, 2020 from Gethsemane Lutheran Church, 3412 Crestmont Dr. with Reverend Michael Wilke to officiate.Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of VFW Post 1859 and the Michigan Army National Guard. Interment will take place in Great Lakes National Cemetery at a later date.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the church Tuesday prior to the service from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
MEMORIAL: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider Gethsemane Lutheran Church or a charity of their choice.
