Obituary of Dorothy Jean Fettig

Beloved Mother and Grandmother passed away on Saturday, January 25th, 2020. Dorothy Jean Durbin was born October 28, 1925, the only child of Regina (Binder) and Bryan Durbin, in Fremont, Ohio. She graduated from St. Vincent school of Nursing in Toledo, Ohio and Sienna Heights College in Adrian, MI. She was married to Wilfred T. Fettig on April 3, 1948 in Fremont, Ohio. He predeceased her on November 11, 1983.
Dorothy was also preceded in death by two sons, Michael D. and James H. and 3 grandchildren, Jennifer T., Gabriel, and Ashley L. Fettig.
Dorothy enjoyed her children and grandchildren as well as traveling to visit with them. She spent several years working in the nursing profession at St. Luke's Hospital now Covenant Hospital retiring in 1985 as Director of the Nursing Department. She was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church and volunteered in ministering to the homebound, as well as The Catholic Heritage Museum. Dorothy also volunteered for many years for Abortion Alternative.
Survivors are two sons Timothy M. (Kathy) of Saginaw, J. Patrick of Saginaw, a daughter Sheila A. Tarras (Tony) of Angier, North Carolina, seven grandchildren Rebecca A., Bryan P., and Megan J., Fettig, Ann Marie Hodnitt, Lisa E. Rower, Sean A. and Anthony Z. Tarras and eight great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL: A Memorial Mass will be at held at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 31, 2020 from St. Dominic's Parish, St. Stephens Site, 1310 Malzahn St. Saginaw, Michigan with Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit to officiate.
VISITATION: Friday, January 31, 2020 at 10:00 AM at the church until the time of service.
MEMORIALS: Those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider the American Heart Association or Life Clinic (formerly known as Abortion Alternatives) or charity of your choice.
