Obituary of Manuela Godina Anaya

Anaya, Manuela G. Saginaw, Michigan Our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 16, 2020 at Hoyt Nursing and Rehab Center. She was 90 years old. Manuela Godina was born on December 20, 1929 in Maxwell, Texas to the late Juan and Estefana (Alonzo) Godina. She married her sweetheart, Marcos Rivera Anaya Sr. in Turner, Michigan in 1951, he preceded her in death on November 6, 1985. Manuela loved and cherished spending time with her family. She was a fabulous cook and enjoyed feeding everyone who came into her home, and working for many years at the schools and Juvenile Center. Manuela was a faithful prayer warrior, keeping all those who she loved in prayer. She also spent time in her garden, playing BINGO, singing sweet melodies, sewing and crocheting many projects to share with family and friends. Manuela spent countless hours volunteering her heart and soul to different ministries through St. Joseph Catholic Church, Prison Ministry, the Christmas Store, Eucharistic Ministry, Commissioned Lay Minister, the Cursillo, Charismatic Renewal Movement, Alabare Prayer Group and many, many other community organizations. Her unconditional love will be deeply missed by her sons: Daniel (Susan) Anaya and Timothy (Racheal) Anaya; son-in-law, Librado "Larry" Gayton; daughter-in-law, Dawn Anaya; 13 grandchildren: Tara Anaya, Brandon (Denise) Anaya, Alicia (Chris) Whitman, Mirasol "Soli" Gayton, Librado "Lalo" (Leah) Gayton, Santiago Gayton, Leticia Anaya, Daniel Jr. (Elaine) Anaya, Angelica Anaya, Nicole Orosco, Priscilla Gawthrop, Amanda Anaya and Timothy Anaya Jr.; many great grandchildren; sister, Delfina Castillo; brother, Monico "Nick" Godina; brother-in-law, Reynaldo Caceres; also many nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. Manuela was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marcos Anaya, Sr.; son, Marcos Anaya, Jr.; and daughter, Christina Anaya Gayton; siblings: Julia Gonzales, Marcos "Mike" Godina, Eufracio "Big Boy" Godina, Felipa Nava, Bernardina "Nina" Singleton and Clemente Godina. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy for Manuela will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, January 23, 2020 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Street, Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends will gather on Wednesday, January 22, 2020 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Manuela will lie in state at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
