Obituary of Joyce A. Danhoff

Passed away peacefully on January, 14, 2020 at Shields Comfort Care. She was 91 years old. Joyce Ann Brandel was born on November 14, 1928 in Saginaw to the late George and Edith (Lumsden) Brandel. She graduated from Saginaw High School. After high school, she worked as an operator at Michigan Bell. When Joyce became a mother, she stayed home and raised her family. As her children became older, she pursued a mission with SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church as a lay minister. During her years with the church she shared her love of the Lord with people through the jail minister, Home for Peace and Justice, visiting shut-ins, and serving as a Eucharistic minister. Joyce also worked for EMSI, as a receptionist and secretary, retiring in 1998. She had a love for music and enjoyed teaching piano to many students.
Joyce is survived by her three children; DiAnne Doyle, Jeffrey Danhoff and Leslie (Brad) Budzen; granddaughters: Jennifer (Chris) Florence and Heather Doyle; two great-granddaughters: Lindsey "Miss Peach" and Hailey "Miss Plum" Florence; sister, Edna (Floyd) McIntyre; sister in-law; Bonnie Danhoff and several nieces and nephews.
Joyce was preceded in death by four brothers: Robert Brandel, Thomas Brandel, George (Ethel) Brandel and James (Isabelle) Brandel; and her sister, Virginia (Robert) Murphy.
Joyce's family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Shields Comfort Care and Covenant VNA Hospice for their compassionate care and support provide to Joyce and her family.
FUNERAL: Funeral Liturgy for Joyce will take place at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 20, 2020 at St. Dominic Parish - SS. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, 4375 W. Michigan Ave. Saginaw, MI 48602. Rev. Fr. Steven Gavit will officiate. Rite of committal will follow at St. Andrew Cemetery.
VISITATION: Family and friends will gather at the church on Monday, January 20, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
MEMORIAL: In lieu of flowers, those planning a memorial contribution are asked to consider Alzheimer's Association, St. Dominic Parish or the Mustard Seed.
