Obituary of Lois M. VanderKooy

VANDERKOOY, Lois Monica (Seymour). Beloved mother and grandmother passed away on Friday, August 3, 2012 at her home. Age 94 years. The daughter of the late Bertha (McNally) and Maurice Seymour, was born on May 15, 1918 in Flushing, Michigan. She married Leonard L. VanderKooy on April 19, 1941. They were happily married for 53 years. He predeceased her on August 24, 1994. Lois was a talented seamstress, an avid reader and enjoyed attending McNally family reunions. She was a member of St. Helen Catholic Church in Saginaw. Her memory will be cherished by her daughters: Marta (Dan) Russell and Mavis VanderKooy. She was the proud grandmother to Melody Russell, John (Andie) Russell and Christopher Harrington. Lois was predeceased by her sister and brother: Maureen (Arthur) Garrick and Maurice (Elaine) Seymour. The family wishes to express a special thank you to Lois' caregivers, Jeanne DeLaCruz, Deb Tessman and Covenant VNA-Hospice. Lois has been laid to rest in St. Robert Bellarmine Cemetery, Flushing, Michigan. Those planning an expression sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Helen Catholic Church or City Rescue Mission of Saginaw.
