Obituary of Mary Ann Moran

Mary Ann Moran of Saginaw, MI passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was 84 years old, born on June 27, 1935 in Pittsburgh, PA, to Gerald and Catherine (Riley) Ley. Mary Ann married Robert Moran Jr., on August 25, 1956 at Immaculate Conception in Elmhurst, IL, he preceded her in death in July 2009. She graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. Prior to having children, she worked as a legal secretary. Later in life she was employed by Princing and Brennan Pharmacy for several years. Mary Ann was a member of St. Dominic Parish - St. Stephen Catholic Church, where she served on a variety of committees throughout the years; Altar Society, Home and School Association and St. Stephen School Board. She also volunteered at St. Mary's Hospital Gift Shop for over 25 years. Mary Ann enjoyed sewing, cooking and socializing with friends and family, especially her children and grandchildren. Surviving are her children: Kathleen (Thomas) Heidger, Julie (John) Rickfelder, Sheila (Michael) Hanisko, Colleen (Steve) Crawford, Sharon (John) Coenis, and Robert III (Sara) Moran; her grandchildren: Sara (Michael) Michutka, Andy (Carissa) Heidger, Jeanette (Marcus) Mack, Jodi (Bruce) Dudley, Jacob (Hannah) Rickfelder, Jeff Rickfelder, Kate (Mike) Luginbill, Joe (Aubrie) Hanisko, Steven Crawford, Jessica (Matt) Raymond, Adam, Abbey and Kaylee Coenis, Isaac Scott and Maggie Moran; 12 great grandchildren; sister, Jane (Bill) DuBois; also many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert, daughter, Maureen Kostrzewski, grandsons; Thomas Heidger and Alex Kostrzewski, great grand-daughter, Ava Heidger, and brothers: Gerald and Ed Ley. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Covenant VNA Hospice, especially to our dear friend Julie Pape, who was there to guide us through this difficult process. FUNERAL: Funeral liturgy will take place on Thursday, September 19, 2019 at 11:00 am, at St. Dominic Parish, St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzhan St., Saginaw, MI. Rev. Fr. Steve Gavit will officiate. Private burial will take place at St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Family and friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm. A vigil service will take place at 7:00 pm, led by Pastoral Associate, Sharon Wahl. Visitation will continue at St. Dominic Parish from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning on expression of sympathy may wish to consider a donation to Emmaus House of Saginaw.
