Obituary of Joseph A. Allen

ALLEN, Joseph A., Jr. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at the age of 90. Joseph A. Allen, Jr. was born on March 21, 1921 in Alpena to the late Joseph and Delina (Derry) Allen. He was married to Gertrude Margaret McPhillips on February 18, 1946 in Alpena. She preceded him in death on November 24, 1998. Joseph served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII. He was employed by and retired from Saginaw Steering Gear. Joseph was also a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church. He was an avid golfer and truly enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Upon his retirement, Joseph and Gertrude enjoyed spending time at their home in Holiday, Florida. Joseph is survived by his son, Michael J. (Candace Scheidt) Allen of Chicago, IL; his daughter, Janice L. (Stewart) Tuke of Saginaw; five grandchildren: Lisa, Michelle, Jessica, Sarah and Meredith; and five great grandchildren. FUNERAL: A funeral service for Joseph will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 16, 2011 at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State) Rev. Fr. Joseph A. Schabel will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Military honors will be provided at the cemetery under the auspices of V.F.W. Post 1859. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the funeral home on Saturday, July 16, 2011 from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the funeral service.
