LARSON, James L., of Saginaw Township, passed away on Sunday, July 24, 2011 at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison. He was 80 years old. James L. Larson was born on September 10, 1930 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to the late Milton and Luella Larson. He married Florence M. Jensen on December 26, 1956 in Wisconsin; she preceded him in death on April 14, 1990. Following High School graduation, Jim proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1948 - 1952 during the Korean War. He then attended and graduated from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. Jim was employed with General Motors Grey Iron Foundry as a Foreman and Troubleshooter, retiring after 27 years of service. He was a member the American Foundry Society. Jim treasured the times he was with his family, especially golfing with his wife, Florence. He loved to play tennis and walk his dogs: Samantha and Mabel. Jim also enjoyed spending time with his friend, Joe and going with him to the Texan Restaurant. Surviving are his children: Sue (Jerry) Gomez and their dogs: Molly and Grace Gomez all of Saginaw Township; Mark (Diane) Larson of Traverse City, and their children: Jamie (Joshua) Hansen of Kingsley and Brandon (Monica) Larson of Traverse City; and Kathleen Larson and her children: Sophia, Olivia and Mason Munch all of Nashville, Tennessee; Also surviving are 3 ½ great grandchildren. A brother, Thomas Larson, of Madison, Wisconsin has preceded him in death. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison 6th Floor ICU, especially: Carolyn, Ashlie, Sandie and Lorrie. Following Jim's wishes cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Cancer Society or Saginaw County Animal Control. Arrangements are entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd (off State).
