Obituary of Freddie J. Diaz

DIAZ, Freddie J. of Saginaw, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2011, at Covenant HealthCare - Harrison with his family at his side. He was 82 years old. Freddie J. Diaz was born on April 24, 1929 in Saginaw to the late Senovio and Cecelia (Rosales) Diaz. He married Patricia Weaver on August 26, 1960; she preceded him in death on November 10, 1967. Freddie then married Diana M. LaFollette on June 9, 1989; she survives him. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the Michigan National Guard from 1950 - 1952. Freddie worked for General Motors - Grey Iron as a forklift operator; retiring after 35 years of service. Above all he loved his family. He also enjoyed music, especially playing his guitar, singing and dancing. Freddie was a skilled craftsman able to build anything he could image. He was also a gifted and talented tailor. Freddie will always be remembered for his love of gardening, fishing, watching wrestling and playing cards. Surviving besides his wife, Diana are three sons: Joseph Diaz of Saginaw, Daniel LaFollette of Saginaw; and David Diaz of Auburn; one brother, Ralph (Connie) Diaz of Pontiac; Della Chantaca, Dora Medel, Lola Colmus all of Saginaw, and Rosie Diaz of Galveston, Texas; many nieces, nephews, extended family, friends, and his beloved dog, Cinnamon. He was preceded in death by two brothers: Joseph and Steve Diaz and two sisters: Carmen Stricker and Cruz Orozco. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, July 31, 2011 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Freddie will lie in state at the church on Monday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. FUNERAL: Freddie's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. August 1, 2011 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 910 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris OFMCap will officiate. Rite of Committal with Military Honors provided by American G.I. Forum will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Diaz Family c/o Diana.
