Obituary of Elaine E. Trew

TREW, Elaine E. of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on July 27, 2012 at Select Specialty Hospital. Age 94 years. Elaine Elizabeth Wuelpern was born on September 27, 1917 in Saginaw to the late Louis John Henry and Margaretha Wilhelmina Elizabeth "Minnie" (Schmidt) Wuelpern. She married Donald William Trew on January 23, 1947 in Saginaw. He survives her. Elaine graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1935 and was employed in retail until she married Don and became a homemaker. Besides being a wonderful wife and mother, she was an incredible cook. Elaine enjoyed trying new recipes and then giving her food away to friends and family. She also loved sending out greeting cards to all those she cared for. Elaine considered herself to be an amateur photographer, and her family will forever treasure the photos that she took over the years. Left to cherish Elaine's memory are her two children: James William Trew of Saginaw, MI and Beverly Anne Trew Palmer of South Bend, IN, who married Lewis A. Palmer; four grandchildren: Anne Petersen of Mishawaka, IN, Brian Petersen of Dowagiac, MI, Jason Trew of Saginaw, MI, and Kristin Trew of Lansing, MI; one great-grandson, Eric Frickson of Mishawaka, IN; two sisters: Jane Purcell and Donna Wuelpern, both of Saginaw, MI; and one brother, Louis Wuelpern of Midland, MI. She was predeceased by one daughter-in-law, Barbara Jean (Bach) Trew. Elaine's family would like to extend their gratitude to all of the friends that Elaine made during her time of illness and to the staff of Covenant Healthcare - Harrison, Select Specialty Hospital, St. Francis Home, and Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 4, 2012 at Faith Evangelical Lutheran Church, 4432 Mackinaw. Pastor Michael Hahn will officiate. In accordance with Elaine's wishes cremation has taken place with interment in Roselawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the Memorial Service.
