HERRERA, Ramiro Luna of Saginaw, Michigan passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2011 at Magnum Care of Saginaw, he was 82 years old. Ramiro Luna Herrera was born in Poth, Texas on August 25, 1929 to the late Juan and Carmen (Luna) Herrera. He was married to Teofila "Sophie" Sanchez. She preceded him in death. Ramiro worked for Malleable Iron as a relief man for over 30 years and was a member of UAW Local #455. He was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church. Ramiro loved to spend time with his family and compadres. He had a wonderful sense of humor, and he loved to travel to the casinos and Texas in his Cadillac. Ramiro is survived by his three sons: Ramiro (Jacqueline) Herrera Jr. of Saginaw, Felix (Esperanza "Hope") Herrera and Eugene (Sonia) Herrera; two daughters: Maria Teresa (Faustino) Torrez and Mary Helen (Javier) Serrato; one brother, Santos Herrera; one sister, Blanche Martinez; 20 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren. Ramiro was preceded in death by his wife, Sophie; an infant daughter; his son, Antonio; his infant twin; a brother, Jose Herrera; and two sisters, Concha Casares and Cecelia Valdez. Ramiro's family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff of Magnum Care of Saginaw for all of their tender care. FUNERAL: A funeral liturgy for Ramiro will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, September 9, 2011 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1525 S. Washington Ave., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. Daniel Roa will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. VISITATION: Friends may call at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, September 8, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Vigil service will be held on Thursday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Ramiro will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Holy Family Catholic Church.
