Obituary of Mary June Hintze

HINTZE, Mary June, of Glen Arbor, formerly of Saginaw, age 88, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2011 with her loving family at her side while in residence at Tendercare of Leelanau in Suttons Bay. Mary J. Pariseau was born on April 20, 1923 in Bad Axe, Michigan to the late Carl E. and Helen L. (Parker) Pariseau. Mary June attended Siena Heights University in Adrian, MI, Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, MI, and San Francisco State College, San Francisco, CA, majoring in Education and Art History. On July 1, 1944 she married James Frederick Hintze in Rochester, New York and they raised their family in Saginaw, Michigan. As a homemaker and mother she engaged in many volunteer activities. Parish groups including: Home and School Association, Altar Society, and fund raising groups, League of Catholic Women, Queen of Angels Retreat House and St. Mary's Medical Center Auxiliary. Mary June had an interest in and enjoyed collecting antiques. She also was a life long Detroit Tigers fan. She and her husband built their retirement home in Glen Arbor, where the family continues to gather. She was a very active member of the Friends of the Crystal Organization, and enjoyed the Glen Lake Garden Club, and the Lunch Bunch. Since 1987, she was a member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, Empire, Michigan, where she was an Extra-Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion and served on many committees, most recently the Funeral Luncheon Committee. Mary June is survived by four children: Timothy L. Hintze of Saginaw, Joan C. (Dale) Monday of Suttons Bay, Carla A. (Robert) Paetz of Saginaw and David F. (Ruth) Hintze of Janesville, Wisconsin; five grandchildren: Julie A. and Mark J. Hintze, Jillian (Kris) Brooks, Jaime L. Paetz, and Claire C. Hintze. She was preceded in death by her parents. The family wishes to thank the staff at Tendercare of Leelanau for the loving care they gave Mary June during the last four months of her life. FUNERAL: A Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 24, 2011 at SS. Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 4735 W. Michigan Ave. Rev. Fr. John R. Johnson will officiate. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Andrew Mausoleum. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with Mary's family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. Mary will lie in state at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.
