Obituary of Werner T. Hahn

HAHN, Werner "Vern" T. went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 9, 2011. He was 84 years old. Vern was born on April 27, 1927, to the late Theodore and Emma Luesa (Reinke) Hahn in Saginaw. He married Jean V. Illikman on November 22, 1950; she preceded him in death on January 8, 2001. Vern was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear retiring on March 1, 1988. He proudly served his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He served with the Destroyer Escort Hollis and was also a member of the Destroyer Escort Sailor Association - DE 794. Vern was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Zilwaukee, the Lions Club, and Leader Dogs for the Blind. Camping and spending time with his dogs brought much enjoyment to Vern's life. Throughout Vern's life he shared many valuable traits with his family, instilling in them many assets that would help carry them through life. Vern's proudest accomplishment was being able to live at his home for the last three years because his grandson, Joshua, dedicated his love, care and time to live with him, for that Vern was very grateful. Surviving are a daughter, Marsha (Paul) Zacharko; three grandchildren: Joshua Zacharko, Regan (Jeff) Imamura and Allison Zacharko. He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Hahn in 1975. FUNERAL: A funeral service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2011 St. John Lutheran Church, 318 S. Franklin Street in Zilwaukee. Pastor Marcus Manthey will officiate. Burial and military honors will follow at St. John's Cemetery, Frankentrost under the auspice of American Legion Post #439. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with the family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Friday, November 11, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. and at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Leader Dogs for the Blind or St. John Lutheran Church.
