CASEY, Raymond C. of Saginaw passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 9, 2011 at Edgewood Assisted Living. He was 85 years old. Raymond C. Casey was born on September 24, 1926 in Saginaw, MI to the late Charles and Elizabeth (Pringle) Casey. He married Denise R. Chiesi on October 5, 1949; she preceded him in death on April 30, 1997. Ray proudly served his country during World War II with the U.S. Army. He then worked in the automotive industry retiring from Saginaw Steering Gear in 1986. Ray was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, and life member of Knights of Columbus, American Legion Post #439 and V.F.W. Post #22. He will be fondly remembered as the "Family Handyman" skilled at fixing many things throughout the years as well as he loved to spend time in his yard. Ray is survived by his children and their spouses: Gail and Leonard Patterson, John and Susan Casey; grandchildren: James (Jill) Patterson, Penny Patterson, Jennifer (Ben) Bock and Jeffrey (Susan) Casey; great grandchildren: Matthew Bock, Claire and Sophie Casey; sisters-in-law: Joan Whaley and Jess Casey; and many nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by two brothers: Melvin and Glen Casey; and two sisters: Audrey Crawford and Emily Filipiak. FUNERAL: The funeral liturgy for Ray will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 19, 2011 at St. Stephen Catholic Church, 1310 Malzahn St., Saginaw. Rev. Fr. William R. Taylor will officiate with entombment and military honors to follow at St. Andrew Cemetery under the auspices of American Legion Post #439. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit with Ray's family at St. Stephen Catholic Church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. MEMORIALS: Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association or St. Stephen Catholic Church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd., (off State).
