EMEOTT, Rita J. (Hathaway) of Saginaw, loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away Saturday, December 3, 2011. Age 90 Years. Rita Hathaway was born on March 5, 1921 in Saginaw to the late Ezra and Nettie (Jerome) Hathaway. She graduated from Ss. Peter & Paul Catholic School in 1939. Rita married Earl C. Emeott on February 22, 1941. He predeceased her on December 23, 1944 in the Battle of the Bulge in World War II. Rita was a charter member of St. Helen Catholic Church and was active for years in its various groups, including bingo. She was a member of the League of Catholic Women, the VFW Pot 1566 Ladies Auxiliary, the Timbertown Dollology Club, and the Saginaw Doll Study Group. Rita was a former volunteer at the Children's Christmas Store. She also donated her time to Satellite 2 of the Good Neighbor Mission at the First Presbyterian Church. Rita is survived by two sons: Earl C. "Butch" Emeott Jr. of Saginaw and Gerald (Kathleen) Emeott of Traverse City; three grandchildren: Sherry (Dan) Maples of Colorado Springs, CO, Scott (Penny) Emeott, and Shelly (Thodius) Bedford of Traverse City; many great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Hope Mahan. Rita was preceded in death by three sisters: her twin, Zita Magyar, Violet O'Day, and Myrna Pierce; two brothers: Norbert and Frances Hathaway; and a very special friend, Thomas Mooney. FUNERAL: Rita's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 9, 2011 at St. Helen Catholic Church, 2445 N. Charles St. Rev. Fr. Ronald Wagner will officiate with Rite of Committal in St. Andrew Cemetery. VISITATION: Friends are welcome to visit at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Thursday, December 8, 2011 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. Rita will lie in state at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Funeral Liturgy. MEMORIALS: In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Good Neighbor Mission.
