MURPHY, Patricia Pinney of Saginaw Michigan passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Luther Manor Nursing Home. She was two days short of her 93rd birthday. Patricia Pinney and her twin sister, Elizabeth, were born on December 27, 1918 in Cass City to the late Edward and Elizabeth (Hanes) Pinney. She was married to John H. Murphy on January 17, 1942 in California. He predeceased her on March 4, 1989. Pat was a member of First Presbyterian Church. She graduated from the University of Michigan where she received a degree as a Medical Laboratory Technician. Pat enjoyed playing the organ and getting together with friends for a game of bridge. She also enjoyed bowling, needlework and reading. Pat was proud to be accepted into MENSA International when she was 65 years old. Pat is survived by a son, William (Joanne) Murphy of Sacramento, California; a daughter, Tamsin Murphy of Saginaw; a grandson, Colin (Melissa) Murphy of Sacramento California. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews. Honoring Pat's wishes, cremation has taken place. FUNERAL: A Memorial Service will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 12, 2012 at First Presbyterian Church, 121 S. Harrison Ave. Rev. Dr. Robert L. Emrich will officiate. Patricia's urn will be entombed in the Pinney family vault in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City. MEMORIALS: In the last years of her life, Pat enjoyed thousands of hours of recorded books, all furnished free of charge by the Library of Michigan Service for the Blind and Physically Handicapped.
