Obituary of Carmen Soto

SOTO, Carmen of Saginaw, Michigan passed away peacefully on Friday, July 13, 2012 at Healthsource-Saginaw. She was 93 years of age. Carmen Garcia was born on June 14, 1919 in New Castle, Texas to the late Esequio and Maria (Fabre) Garcia. She was married to Pedro Soto on March 31, 1938; he predeceased her on June 4, 1960. Carmen was employed as a nurse's aide at St. Francis Home, Saginaw General Hospital and she retired from the Saginaw Osteopathic Hospital. Carmen was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. She enjoyed crocheting and made baby blankets for all of her great-grandchildren. Carmen was a loving caregiver to many. Carmen is survived by her children Peter David (Sharon) Soto of Brandon FL and Gloria (Sixto) Orozco of Saginaw, 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She raised three grandchildren Daniel Ortiz, Kelly Hernandez and Kim Pacheco. Carmen is preceded in death by two sons Albert Soto, Arthur Soto, daughter Carmen Ortiz, two sisters Aurora Xenagalous and Juana Serrano and a brother Frankie Garcia. FUNERAL - Carmen's Funeral Liturgy will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 902 N. 6th Ave. Rev. Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap will officiate. In accordance with Carmen's wishes cremation will follow. VISITATION - Friends are welcome to visit with Carmen's family at the Deisler Funeral Home, 2233 Hemmeter Rd. (off State) on Tuesday, July 17, 2012 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. A Vigil Service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, under the direction of Fr. Francis Voris, OFMCap. Carmen will lie in state at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. Mass.
